about me

I started blogging in 2004 because I wanted to have an outlet to share my thoughts with the world. Not that the world was all that bothered, but I find it therapeutic and it's a lot of fun if you don't take it too seriously...

I graduated from the University of Manchester in 2006 with a degree in theology and the bulk of the posts on this blog are related to matters that have interested, stimulated, or irritated me as I have pursued my own theological studies and attempted to work out my own faith, which can be confusing and difficult at times but still worth it.

I still live in Manchester although I am a Yorkshireman by birth and I grew up in Germany. I know tonnes of stuff that's useful in pub quizzes and I was once on the gameshow Fifteen-to-One. I love to read books on theology, biblical studies, modern history, and politics but I get really bored reading fiction, in fact the only work of fiction I've read since I left school in 2000 is Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology.

In 2004 I met my wonderful wife Bryony who is a terribly kind and patient person and very good at music too. We got married in August 2007 but don't yet have any of those married-couple-items yet like kids, dogs, cats, rabbits, or Ikea furniture, but we do own a breadmaker.
